ABOUT VIE

To strive for superiority and to compete is what VIE describes. And this all India sports fest has always seen every year, as the stepping stone to success and to achieve greater heights.

The past is what makes us the present and the present is what makes the future. The times of yore has determined the magnificence of VIE which has been a cut above all the sports fest held in India.

"VIE" started under the guidance of Sri R Chenraj Jain, chairman SBMJC in the year 2000 and was conducted under floodlit as a local tournament with over 20 colleges from all over the state participated in the mega event where SBMJC finished as the overall champions.

Last year VIE saw brilliance at its peak as the magnificence of the fest was elevated to the next echelon .The chief guest was Sreeshanth and the guest list included Robin Uthappa, Pankaj Advani, Shikha Tandon and Anaita Nair. The fest had over 1200 participants from more than 53 colleges and witnessed some of the country's best talent in the field of sports.

The key to any game is to use your strengths and get beyond your weaknesses. The past nine years of the amazing fiesta has seen its share of glory and valour and VIE '09 aims to achieve even greater stature.

The healthiest competition occurs when average people win by putting above average effort. VIE has proven the fact that that goals do not have boundaries and hence VIE '09 goes a step further where it is going to witness international teams participate in the fest this year.

Competition breeds excellence, and VIE '09 invites those who believe that "winning is not everything but it is the ONLY thing"!!

Olympians What does it take to be a champion? Desire, dedication, determination, concentration and the will to win. Here are the Olympians who have reached the ultimate goal.

The Beginning An accolade to the trend setters and the stars of yester year's success that have solely been a true stimulation for the accomplishments that has been achieved by SBMJC in the field of sports. The basket ball in particular in the initial years of SBMJC had won many laurels including winning championships which were conducted at the national level which includes BITS Pilani, Pondicherry engineering college, IIT Madras and CMC Vellore. SBMJC was one of the first colleges that encouraged swimming though being a rare sport and has managed to have students participating at national and international competitions.

Cricket off course came to existence at SBMJC at a later stage in the year 2003.it is no doubt that since then the achievement of the players and their performances have only elevated.

Success is a journey not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome. The students of the first passing batch were the ones who paved the way for success which has been achieved today. The efforts of our seniors in all these years have to be acknowledged with a lot of gratitude!!

Winning doesn't satisfy us -- we need to do it again, and again. The taste of success seems merely to whet the appetite for more. When we lose, the compulsion to seek future success is overpowering. We cannot quit when we are ahead, after we've won, and we certainly cannot quit when we're behind, after we've lost. We are addicted.
